Of course, they can! A wedding party dressed in all white looks seriously chic—and we promise, even if you're also wearing white, it's pretty much impossible to upstage the bride.
To help make sure you stand out as the guest of honour, wear a veil and choose a dress with a train or other singular feature. If your dress is long, have your party wear dresses with slightly shorter or high-low hemlines.

Great question! There are a few distinctions between a tuxedo and a suit that the untrained eye may or may not notice. A tuxedo will have a satin lapel, covered buttons, and besom pockets.
A suit will not have a satin lapel or covered buttons and flap pockets instead of besom pockets.
Both are good options. It depends on what it says on the invitation and if it doesn't say it, ask the groom. If you are the groom, or the groom doesn't know what to tell you, follow some of these recommendations:
- For daytime weddings: you better wear a suit in case of doubt. A tuxedo is mostly seen as night attire.
- For evening weddings: suit and tuxedo. Both are great options.
- If the invitation says black tie attire is required: you will never be wrong with a tuxedo.
- If the invitation says black tie attire optional: feel free to choose whatever you prefer. But make sure that if you choose a suit, it has to be in a dark shade, or you get a little more creative and choose a burgundy tuxedo.
- If it is a destination or beach wedding: probably the wedding guest attire will be more relaxed, so you can wear a light shade suit and even consider linen if the temperature can be a problem. In this kind of event, you can wear a business suit, but you will be much more comfortable in a linen-cotton suit. The groom might wear a tuxedo anyway. Come on. It is his day. He can wear whatever he wants.

- Put off picking it up from the shop for as long as possible. (Forty-eight hours before showtime is ideal.) It should be given to you in a garment bag. At home, take it out immediately and hang it from the highest possible point, so the train and hemline don't touch the floor.
- Travelling? Return the dress to the garment bag and repeat the process later. When flying, ask if you can carry it on board―or you'll risk tying the knot in your tracksuit.
- Should anything happen to stain or wrinkle the dress, don't take matters into your own hands? Trying to dab out even the lightest smudge can leave watermarks, and ironing a fabric like a tulle can transform it into a burnt, crispy mess. Call your bridal salon for help or, if you can't reach it, the nearest cleaner.
Odds are, you probably don’t want to wear your great-grandmother’s dress down the aisle as is. But, luckily, there are other ways to bask in the sentimental value of an inherited gown. Try these tips:
- If the basic structure appeals to you, have a seamstress shorten or lengthen the dress, removing or adding features as you see fit.
- Harvest lace from an old gown to create your veil or an overlay, or have the lace made into a rosette on your dress. The material can also be turned into the base for your bouquet, used for a sash that you can wear around your waist, or appliquéd onto the bodice of your gown.
- If the styles are too different to blend, you should consider taking both dresses to a quilt maker after the wedding and asking her to combine them into an heirloom that you can pass down.
